A password is one more thing for you to lose and one more thing for us to leak. A six-digit code sent to your address proves the same fact — that the address is yours — and then it expires.

We never send a sign-in link — only a number you type yourself. Any email claiming to be us that asks you to click something to sign in is not us. Signing in is what lets your thinking record follow you to another device; anything saved here before that is only moved if you say so.
